Experience the foolhardy German airborne invasion of Crete

Crete 1941 is a turn based strategy game set on the Mediterranean Theater during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011You are in command of the German airborne forces taking part in the extremely risky airborne invasion of Crete. Known as Operation Mercury it was the first mainly airborne invasion in military history. In addition to numeric superiority British commanders knew about the German airborne plan thanks to Allied code breaking efforts. However, against all the odds and in spite of major early losses, the elite German paratroopers managed to seize control of some key airfields allowing them to airlift in more reinforcements to turn the tide of an uneven struggle and eventually capture of the entire island of Crete. Mental fortitude is advised as some of the smaller German drop zones will be in the middle of the strong enemy forces and almost impossible to turn into anything else than a desperate struggle to survive long enough to be freed by the main German force.FEATURES:+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup.+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the games smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.+ Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units.+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of hourses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.+ Inexpensive: The classic strategy game campaign for a cup of coffee! In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.Join your fellow strategy gamers in changing the course of the Second World War!Privacy Policy (full text on website and app menu): No account creation is possible, the made-up username used in the Hall of Fame listings is not tied to any account and does not have password. Location, personal, or device identifier data is not used in any way. In the case of crash the following non-personal data is sent (vie web-form using ACRA library) to allow quick fix: Stack trace (code which failed), Name of the App, Version number of the App, and Version number of the Android OS. The app only requests the permissions it needs to function.Conflict-Series by Joni Nuutinen has offered highly rated Android-only strategy board games since 2011, and even the first scenarios are still actively updated. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming mechanics TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any solo indie developer could dream of. If you have advice how to improve this board game series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth chat without the limits of the stores comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if there is a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will get back to you. Thanks for understanding!+ Minefields requested by Generals/Commanders now arrive with one turn delay+ Assigning replacements (+1 HP) to a unit is a bit easier (3 adjacent enemy hexagons allowed, but the severity of enemy-blocks-replacements depends on the Difficulty Level+ AI artillery might escape capture (happens less often than Generals escape)+ HOF relocated to web (see dev-log for details)+ AI: Improvements in front line coherence+ HOF cleared from the oldest scores

Disappointed to be honest with this one,I have bought quite alot of Jon's games because I love the historical accuracy of the units and game play...but this one really is a let down.On normal mode you get completely wiped out,unwinnable...I don't know what version the positive reviewers are playing but I don't think we are playing the same game.It is winnable on the easier modes but it is long and boring.also it is not historical accurate which I was expecting. No Italians land with armour, etc.

Absolutely brilliant series of games , keep them coming please. Encountered only 1 problem in the whole series, a little more of smoother scrolling would help!

Wide load

Very good game. I can't get lower than 70 turns on Hard as the Airdrop supplies to the eastern pockets keep decreasing at critical times and without warning. This means that at best they only just survive until the long and tedious advance from the West reaches them. Will have to leave it a bit until I can come up with a new strategy. All in all very good though.

Having read (and re-read) Beevor's book on Crete, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It can be pretty frustrating in the early stages, when you have paratroops encircled and unable to reconstitute units, and (paradoxically) gets rather anticlimactic towards the end because by then you're just mopping up and you don't need 2/3 of your troops, but it's still a challenge. The only feature I'd like to see added is a "cancel last move" button because, especially on a phone, it's easy to tap the wrong unit.

While still better than 99.9% of the games out there, this is not Joni's best. The beginning is a nail biter: the arriving paratroops struggle in the face of overwhelming forces to expand their drop zones, to capture airfields, and to simply survive. Once the German forces build up, the rest of the game is a snooze: the player is simply pushing pieces around and making overwhelming attacks. Excellent beginning, but too much tedious mop up. I have to subtract a star from Joni's usual 5 stars.

Probably the best JN game so far.

Great game. Very challenging. Only thing I would like to see added is Partisan activity in captured territory forcing the Germans to commit forces to put uprisings down. This really happened.

Jim McLaughlin

Against the grain on this one. PATIENCE required early on. So outnumbered. Hang in there pays off. Must say unique campaign. Joni dosnt make easy games/ simulations. Guess a balanced game would be too easy.Excellent update

I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

Nice challenge. Compare how you do versus the historical outcome.
